90's Trends, The Revival.

The 90's are back but which trends of the era have truly been revived and deserve to stay? Here are a few of my favs that are back and on track.

Windbreakers
Classic windbreakers are back especially those with a vintage feel think old school Nike, Reebok, Polo Sport, and even Neon colors from Surf Style. These have popped up and are being remade this year but, truly vintage pieces will remain forever righteous. These are the pieces that fetch stupid dumb prices.

The Turtleneck
Yes, the turtleneck is back to cool. Complex style says Drake brought it back but, I beg to differ. Personally I've been banking on the turtleneck game since early '14 but, it always takes time for the wave to crest. Drake can have the credit no one is trippin', I'm just happy that everyone has finally caught on. The turtleneck gives off a spirit of luxury albeit the turtleneck of 2016 is shorter than the 90's, the core style has not been lost. Grab you a turtleneck to go solo or pair it with a sweater/cardigan combo and proceed to stunt.

Strapback Hats
Yeah I said it, Snapbacks had their time and fitteds are faded. The strapback is the new wave, some corporate logos but more destination, catch phrase, and graphic hats. Always embroidered never screen-printed.

Rounded Glasses
Milo had them in Atlantis, Morpheus had them in the Matrix on the very tail end of the 90's but, trust me they have risen once again. Everyone from 2 Chainz to A$AP Ferg has a pair, whether clear opaque black they're round and back around.

Doc Martens
This one of the few trends I have seen grown that I personally would not sport but, I do recognize the come up.  Doc Martens originally work boots from the UK, are back in a variety of colors and prints. They still come with the same durability of a traditional work boot, I hear that they are still just as hard to break in comfortably.

Safari & African Print
I've seen this print reappear everywhere from being worn on traditional african garb, to hats, windbreakers, and windpants. Catch the wave, new patterns are popping up but this one has been around the block, whether people know it or not.

Bra and Panties
The style of the bra and panties with the fat brand label that Aliyah made popular  with Tommy Hilfiger back in the 90's has resurfaced. This time CK taking on the face of Kendall Jenner a mainstream face of the 199X generation. Girls like it and a fresh face has breathed life into an old style don't believe me? Make a tumblr.

Joggers (Windpant)
The jogger made a name for itself wind pant is back as well. These are being semi-reinvented as a sweat pants x windbreaker cross but, they originally got big in the 90's and have been revived. I personally remember wearing these to many Karate classes and now I see them on tons of kids today. The new style seems to be the same basic wind pant made out of anything from cotton to khaki to denim coming in a variety of patterns and colors. The vintage nylon style and sweatsuit ensemble still lives on. This is a style that is slowly building up pieces in my collection.

Overalls
Another piece that I'm not sure if I could personally pull off but is back in action, the overalls. Made popular initially by function then crossed into mainstream style see Will Smith Fresh Prince. Originally produced by everyone from Levi to Oshkosh and Guess. You can catch Tyler the Creator of Odd Future or internet style icon Ian Connor regularly rocking a pair. They're back.

Acid Wash
An effect I've always found interesting is also back, acid wash is a cool effect to denim that has made its way back into our lives. High waisted jean shorts are often seen with this effect but looks ice on denim of any color. Companies today try to redo the effect on denim colored cotton but, I refuse to accept this as anything close to authentic. When done right acid wash is a cool touch to any form of true denim, when you apply it to cotton/any other fabric prepare for the roast.

Ripped Jeans (Destroyed/Distressed)
Another one. I remember being in 5th grade and kids shelling out up to $200 for Abercrombie ripped jeans that had more free air space in holes than denim. Well the style is back but, this time a lot more form fitting. The trend has resurfaced as "destroyed" or "distressed" these terms not exclusive to denim but being applied to any garment shirt, jacket or otherwise check out the Yeezy Seasons.

Cosby/BIG Sweaters
I doubt that these ever really died first sported by Dr.Cosby and the Notorious BIG. They have blown up again recently on the back of the late A$AP Yams. Originally popularized by the brand Coogi,I have seen vintage pieces produced by others from the same time period. I personally own two of these sweaters and they still catch major compliments when worn. You can still find original pieces in this style that were produced by Coogi carrying a heavy penny price. I have yet to see any company try to add a modern twist to this, and I'm not sure I would accept it as genuine if they did.

Lastly, where to cop? Your local thrift shop probably has some if not all of these 90's pieces in stock for rock bottom prices so I would start there first. If you still cannot find what you're looking for I can almost guarantee Etsy.com will have something of the sort. I have found the Etsy vintage world to be a treasure trove, you can view some of my findings here all categorized. Pieces on the site tend to be more expensive but you will find a better selection and hard to find sizes.

WARNING-Pieces on Etsy sell out quickly and are often deadstock so if you see something you like nab it. Let me know if you think I missed any 90's trends and if I get enough responses I'll do an add-on.
