LACMA buys "Porno House" from the 'Big Lebowski' for $40M
That's right the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has purchased the home featured as the 'porno house' of Jackie Treehorn from the Coen Bros film the Big Lebowski for a reported $40M, making it the museum's biggest buy to date. The house in question was built in '63 by famous architect John Lautner originally for Helen and Paul Sheats, the home was then purchased by John Goldstein in '72 for a mere $185K. The distinct triangular concrete roof is the signature of the home and is recognize as being a perfect example of American Organic Literature meaning “intentional harmony between buildings and the natural world that surrounds them" as defined by Frank Lloyd Wright who was a major influence in Lautner's career.
The home now worth a cool $40M was actually donated to the Museum by the Goldstein's, the home features a night club, screening room, tennis court ,and office area across the street.
