Run DMC Reunited and Resurrected!

Great news for hip hop fans, legendary hip hop pioneers Run-DMC is getting back together as reported by AllHipHop.com last weekend. It’s said that a high-level meeting took place between Run and DMC, resulting in secured plans for the future of the group. Business deals and details were not revealed yet, but things are reportedly going smoothly.

Almost a decade ago in November 2002, shortly after the death of Jam Master Jay

, Run-DMC decided to retire. Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons released a statement:

“We can’t perform anymore. Nobody wants to see Run-DMC without Jay. Run-DMC is officially retired. I cannot get out in front of my fans with a new DJ. Some rock bands can replace the drummer and I don’t know any other way but to be the three original members. That’s all I can say. We are retired.”

The group’s absence from the stage included the important time when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame back in 2009. During the long hiatus, both Run and DMC stayed busy with personal projects. Rev. Run and his family were portrayed in MTV’s reality series “Run’s House”, while DMC won an Emmy Award for his documentary: “DMC: My Adoption Journey”. Both Run-DMC members are also known for their philanthropic activities.

We’re just glad they’re getting back together even without Jam Master Jay
