Cuba Gooding Jr, Why Movie Stars are Transitioning to TV

In a recent article published by BI, Cuba Gooding Jr. who recently debuted in the highly anticipated "People v.OJ Simpson" , shed some light on why many Hollywood stars are making the movie from the big screen to your living room TV. Gooding said that a TV series allows actors to develop a character on a deeper level. As opposed to a studio giving actors 3hrs to develop a character you get around 10hrs over a full season. Plus audience attention span is waning in 3hrs and audience paying $10+ for a film wants to see action scene after action scene, "Keep me entertained". TV series give an intimate view of a character and allows the audience to take their time whether it's a scheduled primetime slot every Wednesday night or being able to binge watch the entire season on Netflix, people are more engaged over that 45min to an hour.

"When we started shooting, we only had the first episode. So I could be 160-some-odd pounds, I’m tan, I’m O.J. as you knew him," Gooding, Jr. recently told Business Insider. "And when you get to the 10th episode, I went on that mental journey for six months — I’ve gained 20-some-odd pounds. You see that transformation."

I recently saw the new Star Wars film with my Dad (50) and younger brother (13). I had already seen the earlier films over the years but, the way the plot is presented you don't need to have any previous knowledge of the prior films to follow along. Yet, at the end of the movie my younger brother was sleep and my father felt like the entire he just financed was a waste of money for his time spent.

Then there is the ultimate money factor, I can't speak to the production side of things but, from a consumer side I know viewers feel more of a value in quality TV streaming versus Movies. Why?
Think about this, would you rather pay $8.99 to get access to unlimited quality TV shows
(ex-Netflix ) or one time access to a movie for $10.99, in the end people want value. I think these principles could help shape the entertainment industry in the coming years, only time will tell.
